Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Posted by Bob Kenward on August 30, 2009
And people brought a deaf man who had a speech impediment to Jesus and begged him to lay his hand on him.
Say to those whose hearts are frightened:
he comes with vindication;
Streams will burst forth in the desert,
The burning sands will become pools,
My brothers and sisters, show no partiality
For if a man with gold rings and fine clothes
and a poor person in shabby clothes
“Sit here, please,”
“Stand there,” or “Sit at my feet,”
Did not God choose those who are poor in the world
“Ephphatha!”— that is, “Be opened!” —
They were exceedingly astonished and they said,
AMEN

Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time
Posted by Bob Kenward on August 15, 2009
Jos 24:1-2a, 15-17, 18b
Ps 34:2-3, 16-17, 18-19, 20-21
Eph 5:21-32 or 5:2a, 25-32
Jn 6:60-69
Jesus told his disciples that “there are some of you who do not believe.”
Jesus: “Do you also want to leave?”
Simon Peter: “Master, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe and are convinced
that you are the
Holy One of God.”
Joshua addressed all the people:
“If it does not please you to serve the LORD, decide
today
whom
you will
serve…
the gods your fathers served
beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites
in whose country
you are now dwelling. As for me and my household,
we will serve the LORD.” But the people answered,
Far be it from us to forsake the LORD
for the service of other gods.
You have the words of eternal life.
Sunday August 23 2009 is the Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B
For it was the LORD, our God,
who brought us and our fathers
up out of the land of Egypt,
out of a state of slavery.
He performed those
great miracles
before our
very eyes
and
protected
us
along our
entire journey and among the peoples
through whom we passed. Therefore we also
will serve the LORD,
for he is our God.
Jesus said,
“just as the living Father sent me and I have life
because of the Father,
so also the one who
feeds on me
will have life
because of me.” The disciples said,
“This saying is hard;
who can accept it?”
Jesus said,
“It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail.”
“The words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life.”
Taste and see

the goodness
of the Lord
When the just cry out,
the LORD hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are
crushed in spirit
he saves.
Wives should be subordinate
to their husbands
as to the Lord.
For the husband
is head of his wife
just as Christ is head of the church,
he himself the savior of the body.
As the church is subordinate to Christ,
so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives,
even as Christ LOVED THE CHURCH
and handed himself over for her to sanctify her,
He who loves his wife loves himself.
For no one hates his own flesh
but rather nourishes and cherishes it,
even as Christ does
THE CHURCH,
because we are
MEMBERS of HIS BODY.
For this reason a man shall
leave his father and his mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh.
This is a great mystery,
but I speak
in reference to
CHRIST AND THE CHURCH
The words I have spoken to you are
Spirit and Life.
But there are some of you
who do not
believe.
Jesus knew from the beginning
the ones who
would not
believe
and the one
who would
betray him.
And he said,
“For this reason
I have told you
that no one can come to me
unless
it is granted him
by my Father.”
As a result of this,
many of his disciples returned
to their former way of life
and
no longer
accompanied him.
Jesus then said to the Twelve,
“Do you also want to leave?”
Simon Peter answered him,
“Master, to whom shall we go?”
“You have the words of eternal life.
We have come to believe
and are convinced that you
are the Holy One of God.”
AMEN
and
AMEN
GOD BLESS YOU

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Posted by Bob Kenward on August 9, 2009
Prv 9:1-6
Ps 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7
Eph 5:15-20
Jn 6:51-58
Jesus said to the crowds:
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”
Sunday August 16 2009 is the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Year B
Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns; she has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.
Taste and see

the goodness
of the Lord
I sought the LORD, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears. Watch carefully how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise, making the most of the opportunity,
because the days are
EVIL.
Therefore,
do not continue in ignorance,
but try to understand what is the will of the Lord.
And do not get drunk on wine,
in which lies debauchery,
but be filled with the Spirit,
addressing one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts,
giving thanks always and for everything
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
“How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you do not have life within you.
For my flesh is true food,

and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my
blood remains in me and I in him.
AMEN
and
AMEN
GOD BLESS YOU
